"So Much Color, So Little Time"
12" x 16" Studio oil
Talk about a challenge. Bright late afternoon
warm sunlight hitting the face of the
canyon against the cool purplish-blue
shadows. Throw in the bright orange reflected
light bouncing off the ground into
the under belly of the canyon wall and
you have a painter's dream and nightmare
all at the same time.
I did a 6" x 8" study on location which really
defined the larger studio piece. There is
no way a camera can capture the wide
range of values in this landscape. The
location study saved me...once again!
