"McKinney Snow Day" 12" x 16" oil/linen

As everyone knows we here in Texas got hit
with a load of snow the last two weeks. This
farmhouse is just up the road in Prosper. I
was actually on my way to paint the
grain elevators they have when I spotted
this little gem. It has a real nice old
barn down the hill and plays home to a few
horses and goats.

It would have been easier to stay in the studio,
but as few times as it snows here each year, I
couldn't let the chance to paint in the snow pass
me by.

I love the light you captured and your colors are luscious! We woke up to -11. The weather has been very cold. I'm not tempted to try to paint out there. My fingers would freeze!

You really captured the cold with this one. Colors, values, every thing is just right! It's a beautiful painting, but gosh I am glad the snow and ice are gone! I'm looking forward to painting out this weekend in the 60s and 70s.

Enjoyed your highway series at your work. You're a brave soul to have ventured out on that cold day to paint in the snow! We had a 1/2 inch here on the lake in Marble Falls. Your painting turned out to be a perfect gem!

I love the mood in this, the chimney smoke gives it a nice warm feeling. Great job!

Thanks everybody. Hard to believe I painted that scene last week. Today it is 73 and I have a 1:30 tee time. Wearing short sleeves. You gotta love Texas weather.

I love the weight to the snow on the roof. You can really feel the volume. Great!
